Climate change is the most pressing crisis of our time. The response of governments and companies worldwide has been to shift away from fossil fuels and toward batterypowered technologies. Minerals that power many of these batteries have been described by the people promoting mining them as essential for building a clean, green future. Corporations are now looking to mine the deep sea, a largely uknown environment, to access a fresh supply of these minerals. But at what cost?
