In 2019, the Ambaebulu school is breaking new ground with a culinary initiative combining flavour and sustainability. Each dish is a journey transforming the way nutrition is perceived and practised. Its director has decided to take back control of the health and nutritional education of his pupils, who are growing their own food in the school. The national Farm to School programme has a bold mission: to reduce dependence on imported produce and improve the quality of meals for Vanuatu’s schools kitchen. Poignant testimonies show the positive impact of this initiative on the health, education and future of Vanuatu’s young people. If Ambaebulu can do it, why not the rest of the schools across the country? And why not an echo throughout the Pacific? From action comes freedom and hope.
