Catherine Alvaresse is a renowned professional in the audiovisual industry, and is currently President of KM, a production company specializing in magazine and documentary production for the Banijay France group.
She began her career at the French Conseil Supérieur de l’Audiovisuel (CSA) program division in 1993, before joining TF1’s Legal Department. In 1994, she moved into independent production, joining Image et Compagnie. Four years later, Alvaresse became Director of Sales and Coproductions at the production company Off the Fence (Netherlands). In 2004, she joined the Télé Images group, as Head of International Coproductions. In 2007, she joined Europe Images International (Groupe Lagardère). In 2011, she joined Arte France as Deputy Director of the Discovery and Knowledge Unit. In 2016, she was appointed Director of France 2’s Documentary Unit, and from 2019 to 2023, she became Director of Documentaries for the France Télévisions Group.
Catherine Alvaresse’s work has won numerous awards in France and abroad. Three years in a row, from 2021 to 2023, the Prix Albert Londres audiovisuel was awarded to documentaries she initiated, as well as two International Emmy Awards, in 2020 and 2022. Finally, in 2023, the hit series L’affaire d’Outreau was awarded the Prix Europa Special Jury Prize.
In 2024, Alvaresse was appointed President of KM (Banijay France), known for its many successes, including Arte’s must-see daily series 28 minutes and the Netflix series Raël, le prophète des extraterrestres.
